costumes designer role for a vampire story:

We were given roles to find costumes for each classmate involved in the performance in June of' 'The Vampire Story'

My notes so far in planning :

Scene 2 :

Everyone :
[ ] White shirt
[ ] Dark bottoms(Grey,dark green, etc) (any)
Except Mint :
[ ] Black trousers
[ ] Weird top
[ ] Scarf

Scene 3 :

Ask rob to go into the costume store.
Need of Aprons to resemble food technology.

Scene 4 :

[ ] Briggs , Moon take off aprons and unbutton white shirt to make the party expression.

Scene 5 :
[ ] Jackets for Darvell and Ruthven
[ ] Clara wearing a longer skirt/dress
Marianne :
[ ] Black shirt
[ ] Dark skirt

We chose mostly dark clothing because in certain scenes it would look more or less like uniform and also bright colours would kill the whole fact of 1812 , especially when a theme of supernatural enters the equation. Vampires are definitely not true in this day and age. However in the monologue they exist so we can grab a sense of what a vampire's features or actions are like. They are very mysterious and low-key, which is the reason that dark clothing works. We want to be able to perform the play not just by the dialogue but show it by colour. Plus it tells us when it's set.

For scene 5 , Ruthven and Darvell are given jackets to wear for their scene in the brothel, which in other words meaning a hungheap or a whorehuse. The jackets show a superior side to both characters especially when they are playing cards which shows how laid back they are. It also shows that they are very wealthy in possession because Clara , the assistant at the brothel always hands drinks out whilst they are in the vicinity.
Both Ruthven and Darvell are more like companions seeing as Ruthven is told a secret that Darvell holds. Ruthven is told that the secret can gain him immortality. Ruthven at that minute is not interested and takes it as a joke "Oh this is fabulous, I dont believe a word".
After a while however he is more engaged to learn about the secret. He asks questions like "Why"," When" ,"have you taken advantage of it yourself ". Now in the parts that we cover , we dont actually get to see a sense of what happens next but scene nine answers half of our questions.

Ruthven enters scene nine asking about Eleanor wythenshawe.  .....  call him by Lord Ruthven which goes back to the point of superiority. ... describes Lord Ruthvens skin and great smell of his jacket , which as you can see shows he has an attraction to females around him. He is very determined to see Eleanor,  who is supposedly Clara's property. He shows urgency in the way that he expresses " bring her to me now ".
