unit 8 Final Major Project

 

Foolish intentions bring the worst of affections

My idea of the script was to bring an every day problem which occurs around the world.



My inspiration


whilst researching i came across Quentin Jerome Tarantino who is known as an American filmmaker who refers to popular culture and stylized violence. He also uses a lot of profanity. So my main point of using offensive words was to almost neck for neck follow the use of profanity to describe how serious things really are. 


You may have not experienced or seen a sign of bullying but did you know that most bullying is hidden away.

The Department of Education say that 60% of those who said they had been bullied had experienced some kind of physical bullying, 89% said they had suffered some kind of verbal bullying and 18% said they had suffered theft or damage to their property.


The saddest part is the actions taken by victims , yes some solve it and move on but some bullying gets out of hand and the individual would actually get to the stage of hanging themselves in their room or in park. Gladly it’s not a common thing to do but think about , what are we actually doing to stop bullying?

Putting up posters and shouting "NoMoreBullying" isn’t going to stop the person that is causing this. There needs to be a new solution. 



Backstory

Someone from the past has reminded tyrese of the events where his female cousin ended up in hospital after a fight with another girl called summer.


The reason for the actions in the script is to show the most common situations when in a similar type of situation.

Also boys shouldn’t hit girls same as how girls shouldn’t hit men. However the boys group up against the girl and leave her wounded.


I use foreshadowing to show 2 different aspects of outcome. 

The first outcome is the worst of out the 2.

It leads to injuries and also a new discovery by Solomon and Moses , they realise that Tyrese has gone of the rails and is not thinking about his future yet he is only thinking about abusing his power to make sure that Summer is scarred for life.


The second outcome is the better outcome. 

There is no such abuse apart from a couple comments but as the boys realise the acting opportunity they are invited to , they quickly think and sum up that they don’t want to ruin that chance.


Research 

My plan was to write about the things that would go on in a teenagers life. I experienced bullying in secondary school and it was mainly about my height and the small clothes that I wore because I couldn’t find anything my size.

 I watched a series called Waterloo Road which is not a privileged school ,they enroll students that are not filled with the best behavior and a lot of bullying and cuss words are used , especially words that would seem threatening and would not be tolerated by the school conduct policy.This was the base of my plan.  I watched Top boy summer house and it gave me an idea to include revenge. This would showcase the anger of the characters affected and also show the consequences of taking up the idea of revenge but on the other hand also show a good way to avoid it. So I came up with the idea of Summer beating up Tyrese’s cousin and putting her in hospital , this way the trio but mainly tyrese would be highly affected due to how close they were with her. This would make Tyrese seek revenge and a year later he does in outcome one. The second outcome is very hard to follow for some and it’s something Tyrese should be applauded for. Wishing the worst for someone who put your close cousin in hospital and when you finally meet this person you walk away and get on with your life. Both Solomon and Moses reminded Tyrese , the things that were at stake. The group are definitely meant for each other. Yes they can start on the wrong foot but they clearly know the two options.


Things i faced whilst writing the script

My difficulties during writing this script was the fact that most of the words that I wanted to use were too offensive , even though my aim was to show the true colors that occur to a student or an adult. I had to rewrite some of the parts so it was eligible to hand in. I also made the consequences of revenge slightly lenient so that it was also acceptable. Apart from that I enjoyed writing the script because it’s a chance for others to see how well I am.

Unit 5/6

Like there's no tomorrowike there's no tomorrow was created by Belgrade's young company including Justine Themen , Claire Procter and Liz Mytton.The Belgrade Youth Theatre presented "Like There's No Tomorrow" - one of the first National Theatre Connections plays to be created by young people, originally devised by Belgrade's Young Company in march 2020. The play gives voice to young people's concerns about climate change at a time when the future has never looked more uncertain. A mayor candidate is trying to gain attention from the people in the area to change the way things run and also outlines the benefits of why he should be chosen. However Aisha protests and claims that these changes will eventually affect the whole world and mainly the poor. Production lessons with Rebecca

In Rebecca's production lessons we would arrive at 1pm and be informed of the work set to complete for that lesson. We would work on computers most times. There would be normal difficulties when using a computer , like for example, passwords not working or computers just running slow. We would have to deal with it but at the end of the day we would complete our goal so everything is still merry. At times we are told to write paragraphs about a topic for example, Clothing, what do clothing designers need , any qualifications, who they work with , how they have to think or act and how they do their jobs. We would learn about different lights that are used in theatres, for instance Profiles, LED stage lights , Side lights etc. We would also have a PSHE lesson afterwards for another hour on a Monday, we've covered County lines and other topics already. I think it's good because its an everyday knowledge which of course everyone would want to have.
